Sunlight streams through window pane, unto a spot on the floor... Then I remember, it's where you used to lie, but now you are no more... Our feet walk down a hall of carpet, and muted echoes sound... Then I remember, it's where your paws would joyously abound... A bark is heard along the road and up beyond the hill, Then I remember, it can't be yours.... your golden voice is still... But I'll take that vacant spot of floor, and empty muted hall, lay them with the absent bark, and unused dish, along the wall... I'll wrpa these treasured memories in a blanket of my love, and keep them for my loving friend, until we meet above. Author

When God calls little puppies to dwell with Him above, We humans always question the wisdom of His love. For no heartache can compare with the loss of one small 'child', Who does so much to make this world seem wonderful and mild. Perhaps God tires - always calling the aged to His fold, And so He picks a Rosebud before it can grow old. God knows how much we need them and so He picks but few; To make the land of heaven more beautiful to view. Believing this is difficult, yet somehow we must try, For the saddest word that mankind knows will always be "good-bye". And so when little pups depart; We, who are left behind, must realize how much God loves puppies.... For angels are hard to find. ~ Author Unknown |
And God asked the feline spirit Are you ready to come home? Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul And, as a cat, I am most able To decide anything for myself Are you coming then? asked God. Soon, replied the whiskered angel But I must come slowly. For my human friends are troubled. For you see, they need me, quite certainly. But don't they understand? asked God That you'll never leave them? That you souls are intertwined for all eternity? That nothing is created or destroyed? It just is...forever and ever and ever. Eventually they will understand, Replied the glorious cat. For I will whisper into their hearts That I am always with them I just am...forever and ever and ever. Author Unknown |

(SCHWEITZER) Hear our humble prayer, O God, For our friends, the animals. Especially for those who are suffering for any that are lost or deserted or frightened or hungry. We entreat for them all. They mercy and pity, And for those who deal with them, We ask for heart and compassion and gentle hands and kindly words. Make us, ourselves, to be true friends to animals and to share the blessings of the merciful. (Albert Schweitzer) |
(dog cat, birds, & other pets) If I could have a lifetime wish, A dream that would come true. I'd pray to God with all my heart, For yesterday and you. A thousand words can't bring you back, I know because I've tried. And Neither will a million tears, I know because I've cried. You left behind my broken heart and happy memories too. But I never wanted memories I only wanted you. (unknown)

You cannot buy loyalty, they say, I bought it though the other day. You cannot buy friendship tried and true, Well, just the same, I bought that too. I made my bid and on the spot, Bought love, faith and a whole job lot, of happiness, so considering all the purchase price was pretty small. I bought a simple, trusting heart, That gives devotion from the start. If you think these things are not for sale, Buy a brown eyed puppy with a wagging tail. unknown author |
(horses) Give her pasture, tall and green, With lots of clover, oh so thick Give her lots of carrots, and blocks of salt to lick. Make sure someone rubs her belly, And scratches behind each ear, And tell them about that itchy spot Right on her left hind rear. May her tail fly free and high As she runs across the ridge, Till she races across to greet me, At the end of the Rainbow Bridge. ~author unknown~ |

There is sorrow enough in the natural way From men and women to fill our day; And when we are certain of sorrow in store, Why do we always arrange for more? Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware Of giving your heart to a dog to tear. Buy a pup and your money will buy Love unflinching that cannot lie-- Perfect passsion and worship fed By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head. Nevertheless it is hardly fair To risk your heart to a dog to tear. When the fourteen years which Nature permits Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits, And the vet's unspoken prescription runs To lethal chambers or loaded guns, Then you will find--it's your own affair-- But ... you've given your heart to a dog to tear. To lethal chambers or loaded guns, Then you will find--it's your own affair-- But ... you've given your heart to a dog to tear. When the body that lived at your single will, With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!) When the spirit that answered your every mood Is gone--wherever it goes--for good, You will discover how much you care, And will give your heart to a dog to tear. Rudyard Kipling |

They say memories are golden well, maybe that is true I never wanted memories I only wanted you A million times I cried If love alone could have saved you you never would have died In life I loved you dearly in death I love you still In my heart you hold a place no one else could fill If tears could build a stairway and heartache make a lane I'd walk the path to Heaven and bring you back again Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same But as God calls us back one by one the chain will link again ~author unknown |
One day up in heaven, While God was looking down, He saw people alone and sad, And He gave a little frown. He wanted to think of something, To make those people smile, Then the answer came to Him, After He'd thought awhile. He'd give them a companion, One whose love was true, Faithful they would be, No matter what the people do. Four legs they would have, And they would never fail, To greet these people every time, With a happy wagging tail. He'd give them a big heart, To hold all the love inside, That love would last forever, Even after they had died. For across that Rainbow Bridge, Would be a special place, Where they would wait and watch, To see their master's face. He thought of what to call it, And then the answer came. If you spell "God" backwards, You'll have this animal's name. -- Anita Burney |
