"
Marijah My Love "
God
placed her upon the wings of a dove
Then
sent her to me to care for and Love
I thought
when I saw her beautiful face
She's
heaven on earth and wrapped in his grace
A pretty
white bow was tied in her hair
And
I saw a key was hidden in there
The
key was so small but sparkled like gold
I felt
it was not to touch or to hold
Yes,
Love had been born as pure as can be
This
angel from God especially for me
"What
do I call her?" I asked God above
He whispered
to me "Marijah My Love"
From
that moment on our hearts would agree
That
no one could come between her and me
Although
she can't speak her actions say more
She
shows me her Love with kisses galore
I worry
each time she's not in my sight
Yes,
I have to know Marijah's all right
I'd
gladly give up the things of this world
They
just don't compare to my little girl
I've
learned how to Love without any fear
I'm
grateful to God for sending her here
Marijah
has filled a dark empty hole
I know
she has reached the depths of my soul
That
little gold key? isn't there anymore
I know
where it went and what it was for
Yes,
God knew Marijah and that little key
Would
surely unlock the cold heart in me
I try
not to think of life without her
But
I know someday I'll lose her for sure
In my
human years she's seven to one
As my
life begins her life's almost done
They
say it is better to Love and to lose
But
I'm not so sure which one I would choose
Though
I'm really glad that God and his dove
Decided
to share "Marijah My Love"

A
PRAYER FOR PROTECTION
FOR
ALL ANIMALS
It is
with an open heart and a joyful plea that
I raise
my thoughts and voice to
God
to protect all animals of the world.
Saint
Francis is a friend and so am I to my loving pets
and
to all sentient animals on the planet.
I pray
to treat my pets with loving care
and
to always act in it's best interest.
I am
grateful for an animal's beauty.
I am
grateful for an animal's love.
I appreciate
their friendship.
I appreciate
their trust.
I pray
that I open my heart each day
to all
the animals of the world.
I pray
that others through my example
share
this kindness.
I give
thanks for the cats, the dogs,
the
elephants, and the eagles.
We are
share this earth and are protected by God
and
in our loving thoughts and actions.
Each
day I can say a prayer of protection.
Each
day I can contribute to the welfare
of the
animals in my neighborhood.
I pray
for the safety of my house, pet, friends.
I pray
the animals meet no danger.
I pray
for the long healthy life of my pets
and
the freedom for them to enjoy their lives
in my
home and in the wild.
I give
thanks and I trust that this protection
and
freedom cause me to smile,
a cat
to purr, a bird to chirp, a dog to bark,
a monkey
to cuddle it's mother.
Thank
you God.

WHERE
TO BURY A DOG
There
is one best place to bury a dog.
If you
bury him in this spot,
he will
come to you when you call.
Over
the dim frontiers of death
and
down the well remembered path
to your
side again.
And
though you call a dozen living dogs to heel,
they
shall not growl at him,
nor
resent his coming, for he belongs there.
People
may scoff at you,
who
see no lightest blade of grass bent
by his
footfall, who hear no whimper;
people
who may never really have had a dog.
Smile
at them, for you shall know something
which
is hidden from them,
and
is well worth the knowing.
The
one best place to bury a dog
is in
the heart of his master.

CREATION
OF THE DOG
When
God made the earth and sky,
The
flowers and the trees,
He then
made all the animals
And
all the birds and bees.
And
when His work was finished,
Not
one was quite the same,
He said,
"I'll walk this earth of mine
And
give each one a name."
And
so He traveled land and sea,
And
everywhere He went,
A little
creature followed Him,
Until
its strength was spent.
When
all were named upon the earth,
And
in the sky and sea,
The
little creature said, "Dear Lord,
There
is not one left for me."
The
Father smiled and softly said,
"I've
left you to the end,
I've
turned my own name back to front,
And
call you DOG, my friend."

HE
CREATED MAN'S BEST FRIEND
God
summoned a beast from the field, and He said, "Behold man is crated in
My image. Therefore, adore him. You shall protect him in the wilderness,
shepherd his flocks, watch over his children, accompany him wherever he
may go, even into civilization. You shall be his companion, his ally, and
his slave. To do these things, I endow you with the instincts uncommon
to other beasts: Faithfulness, Devotion, and Understanding,
surpassing
those of man himself. Lest it impair your courage, you shall never foresee
your death. Lest it impair your loyalty, you shall be blind to the faults
of man. Lest it impair your understanding, you are denied the power of
words. Speak to your master only through your mind and your honest eyes.
Walk by his side; sleep in his doorway; ward off his enemies; carry his
burden; share his affliction; love and comfort him. And in return for this,
man will fulfill your needs and wants which shall have only food, shelter
and affection. So be a friend of man. Guide him through the perils along
the way to this land I have promised him. This shall be your destiny and
your immortality." The dog heard and was content.

I'm Still Here -
I stood
by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could
see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined
to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's
me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was
close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You
were thinking of the many times,
your
hands reached down to me.
I was
with you at the shops today,
Your
arms were getting sore.
I longed
to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was
with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want
to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked
with you towards the house,
as you
fumbled for your key. I gently put my paw on you,
I smiled
and said "it's me."
You
looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried
so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's
possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say
to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You
sat there very quietly,
then
smiled, I think you knew ... in the
stillness
of that evening,
I was
very close to you. The day is over...
I smile
and watch you yawning
and
say "goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And
when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll
rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have
so many things to show you,
there
is so much for you to see.
Be patient,
live your journey out ...
then
come home to be with me.

A
PLACE IN MY HEART
What
would I do without you,
My precious,
fury friend?...
Part
mischief, but all blessing,
And
faithful to the end!
You
look at me with eyes of love;
You
never hold a grudge...
You
think I'm far too wonderful
To criticize
or judge.
It
seems your greatest joy in life
Is being
close to me...
I think
God knew how comforting
Your
warm, soft fur would be.
I
know you think you're human,
But
I'm glad it isn't true...
The
world would be a nicer place
If folks
were more like you!
A
few short years are all we have;
One
day we'll have to part...
But
you, my pet, will always have
A place
within my heart.

Actions
& Reactions
There
is sorrow enough in the natural way
From
men and women to fill our day,
And
when we are certain of sorrow in store.
Why
do we always arrange for more?
Brothers
and sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving
your heart to a dog to tear.
Buy
a puppy and your money will buy
Love
unflinching that cannot lie
Perfect
passion and worship fed
By a
kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Never
the less it is hardly fair
To risk
your heart for a dog to tear.
When
the fourteen years which nature permits
Are
closing in asthma, or tumor, or fits,
And
the vet's unspoken prescription runs
To lethal
chambers or loaded guns.
Then
you will find- it's your own affair-
But...
you've still given your heart to a dog to tear.
When
the body that lived at your single will,
with
its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!)
When
the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone-
wherever it goes- for good,
You
will discover how much you care,
And
will give your heart to a dog to tear.

IF
I COULD TALK...
What
would you say if you could see me here?
I'd
hold my breath and quiet my fear.
Please
look at me, don't turn away.
Just
touch my cage and brighten my day.
Reach
out your hand and so gently touch,
If you
could take me home, I won't ask for much.
Life's
too short not to feel your love.
Free
me now to fly like a dove.
It's
been so long since I've felt the sun,
Let's
go outside... to feel the breeze as I run.
To be
in your home would be a dream come true.
I could
never imagine a life without you.
I'd
sit by your side and make you smile.
You'd
forget your problems... just for a while.
Just
give me a chance to be by your side.
We'll
be partners in life, I won't have to hide.
I'll
make you smile, I'll make you feel good.
You'll
have someone to be with, the way it should.
You've
seen my face and looked into my eyes.
Please
don't turn away ... no more good-byes.
Just
open my door and set me free.
Take
me with you, how happy I'd be.
IF I
COULD TALK ... What would I say?
Just
give me hope ... to see another day!

THE
TIME HAS COME
If it
should be that I grow frail and weak,
And
pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then,
will you do what must be done,
For
this, the last battle cannot be won.
You
will be sad, I understand,
But
don't let grief then stay your hand,
For
on this day, more than the rest,
Your
love and friendship must stand the test.
We have
had so many happy years,
What
is to come, can hold no fears,
You
would not want me to suffer so,
When
the time comes, please let me go.
Take
me to where my needs they'll tend,
Only,
stay with me until the end.
And
hold me firm and speak to me
Until
my eyes no longer can see.
It is
a kindness you do for me.
Although
my tail its last has waved,
From
pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't
grieve that it must be you
Who
has decided this thing to do,
We've
been so close, we two, these years,
Don't
let your heart hold any more tears.

A
TIME TO SAY GOOD-BYE
I close
my eyes And I can see
The
day we met
Just
one moment and I knew
You're
my best friend
Do anything
for you We've gone so far
And
done so much
And
I feel like we've always been together
Right
by my side through thick and thin
You're
a part of my life I'll always remember
The
time has come... it's for the best I know it
Who
could have guessed that you and I
Somehow
someway we'd have to say good-bye
You've
helped me find the strength inside
And
the courage to make my dreams come true
How
will I find another friend like you?
Two
of a kind... that's what we are
And
it seems like we were always winning
For
as our team is torn apart
I wish
we could go back to the beginning
The
time has come... it's for the best I know it
Who
could have guessed that you and I
Somehow
someway we'd have to say good-bye
Somehow
today we have to say good-bye.

DOG
TEACHER
If a
dog were your teacher, you would learn stuff like:
When
loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never
pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow
the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience. Let others know when
they've invaded your territory. Take naps and stretch before rising. Run,
romp, and play daily. Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid
biting when a simple growl will do. On warm days, stop to lie on your back
on the grass. On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body. No matter
how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout... run
right back and make friends. Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough. Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not. If what you want lies buried,
dig until you find it.
And
MOST of all...When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by
and nuzzle them gently.
