The phone rang in the middle of the night and I was called into work. I had bronchitis that day.  The police department needed me and Omar for a search of a heavily wooded area for two suspects that committed a sexual assault and were armed with a knife.  I was feeling terrible and Omar was excited because he knew when that phone rang in the middle of the night we were, "going in."  Hearing that a female juvenile was assaulted, I gathered myself up and responded.  I got on location and and commanded Omar to "find them."  Omar ran through the woods like a missle.  I couldn't keep up because from being sick, I couldn't breath.  I lost sight of Omar( a no no in K9) . I heard branches breaking as if something was coming at me.  I shined my flashlight and there was Omar staring at me and trying to get me to follow him.  Omar ran away again, I tried to keep up and lost him again.  I came to a trail and upon shining my light, I again saw Omar looking at me.  He took off again.  I began running down this trail and as I rounded a bend there Omar standing in the middle of the trail looking at me. I approached him.  I said, "find them."  He looked up into the tree.  Guess what? Two scum bags were in the tree.  Omar from the beginning,  apparently chased them up the tree and kept coming back to get me.  Was I his ball and chain or what?  Both suspects apprehended.  The suspects commented to me that they heard something large crashing through the woods and breaking branches.  In their fear they went up the tree.  The big monster was Omar, all 72 pounds of him.  Lord he always made me look good! notified by Dusty S.
