In Loving Memory of
"CASSIE JANE"
Aug. 14, 1988 - Feb. 13. 2000

Cassie Jane

was that "once in a lifetime dog"
that you hear everyone talk about.
To have been able to be her "pack mate"
is an honor that I'm not sure I deserved,
but it is one that I will never forget.
My only hope is that I can be a "good dog"
and see her again at Rainbow Bridge.
Save me some cookies and beer, sweetie girl!

Your humble servant,

bethy :-)

Boomer

Thanksgiving Eve  :-(
This is for the dog who loved cabbage,
cauliflower and broccoli.
I still hear the plinkety plink of his doggie toenails
on the kitchen floor when I'm cutting up those veggies.
I'll always remember how he wooed me
with his Samoyed song,
How he loved to play "hide and seek" with the people.
He truly missed his calling as a rescue dog,
but we got to become members of his pack instead.
You are always in my heart, Peepers.

bethy  :-)

"THE RAINBOW BRIDGE"
There is a bridge connecting heaven and earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and  water, and warm spring weather. Those old and frail animals are young again. Those who have been maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other. But there is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on earth. So, each day, they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks  up. The nose twitches, the ears are up, the eyes are staring and then one suddenly runs from the group. You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again. You look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together again to never be separated.

THE TIME HAS COME
If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then, will you do what must be done,
For this, the last battle cannot be won.
You will be sad, I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
What is to come, can hold no fears,
You would not want me to suffer so,
When the time comes, please let me go.
Take me to where my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me until the end.
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer can see.
It is a kindness you do for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has decided this thing to do,
We've been so close, we two, these years,
Don't let your heart hold any more tears.

Prince grieves for faithful pet
AGNES STEPHENSON
THE Prince of Wales was yesterday mourning the death of his companion of many years, a beloved pet dog named Tigga. The 18-year-old Jack Russell terrier had been ill for some time but he was finally put down by a vet at Highgrove on Monday night. The prince, who had owned Tigga since he was a puppy, was said to be "very sad and upset" by the loss. The heartbreaking decision on the fate of his faithful dog came after months during which Tigga, who was named after the bouncy character from the Winnie the Pooh stories, showed signs of suffering the effects of old age. The dog featured in the prince's Christmas cards along with his sons William and Harry. One was the light-hearted "Flowerpot Men" card of 1995 in which a 13-year-old William and an 11-year-old Harry were seen popping out of giant terracotta oil jars on the terrace of the Prince's Gloucestershire home, with the brown-and-white terrier looking on. There will be other reminders too for the grieving prince as Camilla Parker Bowles's own pet Jack Russell, Freddy, is one of Tigga's sons.
Unfortunately, Tigga's daughter, Pooh, mysteriously disappeared near Balmoral while the prince was staying there in April 1994. Tigga was the prince's constant companion through the troubled times that surrounded his divorce from the Princess of Wales and her subsequent death in a car crash in Paris in 1997. He had arrived in the royal household as a puppy and was the childhood pet of both Prince William and Prince Harry. St James's Palace said the prince, who also keeps black labradors, was coping with the loss, but a spokeswoman added: "He is very upset, as Tigga was a companion for a very long time." It is almost a year since Kelpie, one of the Queen's pet corgis, was put down in similar circumstances.
